Edenvale SAPS’ festive season arrests

“We urge residents to enjoy the holidays but to stay alert and not to drink and drive.”

With the festive season upon us Edenvale SAPS was hard at work keeping the community safe and putting suspects behind bars.

Edenvale SAPS spokesperson Captain Jean Olckers said so far members from the station have arrested 50 individuals.

He said the suspects were arrested on a variety of charges which included assault, possession of stolen property, possession of narcotics and suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.

Since the start of the festive season, Edenvale SAPS has conducted several festive season operations with the assistance of security companies.

Olckers reminded community members to obey the laws while enjoying the festive season.

“We urge residents to enjoy the holidays but to stay alert and not to drink and drive,” said Olckers.

He encouraged community members to be alert while shopping, to keep an eye on their valuables and not to leave any valuables in their vehicles.

Community members must report all suspicious behaviour and individuals to the police.
