Jeppe Girls attains 100 pass for 25th consecutive year

179 of our 181 matriculants achieved marks that allow them to progress to tertiary education with 86% obtaining admission to a bachelor’s degree.

Jeppe High School for Girls did it again by attaining a 100 per cent matric pass rate for the 25th year in succession.

“They continued the school’s legacy of excellence; 179 of our 181 matriculants achieved marks that allow them to progress to tertiary education with 86 per cent obtaining admission to a bachelors’ degree,” said Dina Gonçalves, headmistress.

The top performer was Tiffany Harzon with eight distinctions for English, Afrikaans, mathematics, physical science, life science, accountancy, advanced programme maths and life orientation.

Ruth Bowdler, Cailin Fourie, and Taskeen Laher each obtained seven distinctions.

Ruth received distinctions in English, Afrikaans, mathematics, physical science, life science, geography and life orientation.

Cailin received distinctions in English, Afrikaans, mathematics, physical science, life science, visual art and life orientation.

Taskeen who previously attended Dunvegan Primary School received distinctions in English, Afrikaans, mathematics, accounting, physical science, life sciences and life orientation.

Six distinctions where obtain by Ivana Garvanski in English, Afrikaans, life science, history, visual art and life orientation.

Five distinctions went to Sherry Jiang, Alison Laidley, Ntsakisi Ntsekhe, Carmen Parker and Claudia Steincke.

Ntsekhe was awarded a scholarship from the prestigious Allan Gray Orbis Foundation.

She will be studying law and economics at the University of Cape Town.

She is an accomplished public speaker and was a top ten academic at school as well as deputy head girl in 2018.

She matriculated with distinctions in English, physical science, history, accountancy and life orientation.

Four distinctions went to Tayana Magatti and Tayla Shaw and three distinctions were obtained by Humayra Akhalwaya, Shazia Allybokus, Kimberleigh Barbosa, Sophie Claassen, Erin Conroy, Caitlin Davies, Micaela Ferreira, Dene Gericke, Sabeehah Hamid, Thembela Khuzwayo, Scarlet Margoles, Jamie Moyce, Lakshita Padiachey, Masego Ramatsetse, Gugu Sikwebu, Jayme Smith, Rachel Wilmot and Shannie Wu.
