The 1st St Benedict’s Pack Scouts, Cubs and their fathers visited the elderly residents of Thembalami Care Centre and Max Ordman Deaf Association, run by Rand Aid, in mid-November 2018 to challenge them with fun and games.

Elize Raath, Thembalami manager, said the residents enjoyed the children’s visit and the attention that was given to them.

“The dining hall was abuzz with activity as the boys challenged the residents to games.

“We were amazed at how many residents participated in the variety of games that were on hand.

“We are grateful to 1st St Benedict’s for the donation of meat and the time the boys and their fathers spent braaing.

“This South African tradition is not often enjoyed by our residents, given the cost of meat, and the meal was thoroughly enjoyed by all,” said Elize.
