A section of Longmeadow Boulevard between Gordon Avenue and Peace Street has been closed following a shoot-out between members of the SAPS and an unknown number of suspects.

It is believed the suspects could be connected to a number of bank following robberies.

She added that SAPS Task Team members followed the suspects.

“When officers were noticed by the suspects the men opened fire on officers. Officers returned fire, injuring two of the suspects.”

Another vehicle travelling with the suspects was able to escape. SAPS officers have recovered two unlicensed firearms at the scene.
