BREAKING NEWS: Missing Irish man (66) found safe in Edenvale

The circumstances surrounding his disappearance could not be immediately made available.

Stanley Currie (66) from Ireland was found safe in Edenvale this evening after going missing on December 30.

According to international reports, Stanley had flown to South Africa to meet a woman and was carrying a large sum of money with him at the time of his disappearance.

Chairperson for the Edenvale CPF, Mrs Sheryl Damerall confirmed to the NEWS that Stanley had been found safe.

The circumstances surrounding his disappearance could not be immediately made available.

According to UK based newspaper www.belfastlive.co.uk Currie, from Cookstown in Co Tyrone, flew to Johannesburg from Dublin on December 28 to meet a woman who he had been chatting to online.

He booked a one-way ticket for the trip.

Currie’s family last heard from him on December 30 and it is believed he was traveling with a large sum of money.

Concern for Stanley

His brother Richard Currie shared an appeal for help in a Missing Persons Facebook group writing: “I need your help. Below is a photo of my brother who has been talking to ‘someone’ on the internet for about two years.

“On the 28th of December, he boarded a flight to Johannesburg on a ‘one-way’ ticket to meet this person.

“He hadn’t booked any accommodation over there, was carrying a large amount of cash.

“Numerous attempts have been made by myself and his family to contact him but his phone has been turned off since Saturday night.

“All we want to know is that he is safe and for him to contact his family to let them know that all is well.”
