Edenvale SPCA showered with gifts

"After all, we are all fighting for our animals."

The Dachshund Haven (TDH) organised a year-end function to give back to the Edenvale SPCA in Modderfontein.

TDH volunteers arrived with a mountain of dog and cat food, chicken and rabbit feed along with many other gifts to thank the Edenvale SPCA for their tireless work in the community.

TDH has rescued and rehabilitated dachshunds and dachshund cross-breeds since 2015.

Since then it has successfully rehomed 679 dogs.

“I work very closely with a number of SPCAs and believe the relationship between other rescue organisations, SPCA and NSPCA are relationships that should be nurtured. After all, we are all fighting for our animals,” director of TDH Kimbal Mare said.

Inspector Jade Nel of the Edenvale SPCA said the donations were desperately needed for kittens it cares for.

She said the SPCA has recently been battling to get wet food for the kittens.

Danny, who is waiting for a home, scouts the scene at the year-end function.

“My bakkie was full when I left on Saturday with amazing things for our animals. We would like to send a massive shout-out to TDH for the wonderful thought and to say thank you to all those who attended and donated,” said Jade.
