“With the looming industrial shut down, closing of schools, long road trips to holiday destinations, this period has high traffic volumes with revellers prone to high alcohol consumption leading to vulnerability to crashes. It is essential that we all do the right things and contribute to the reduction of avoidable crashes that are normally accompanied by unpleasant ramifications,” said Chauke.

Kgasago said that CoE EMPD, EMS and the Gauteng Traffic Police, together with the Gauteng Department of Education, distributed pamphlets on road safety, dangers of substance abuse and domestic abuse.
