Security is employed at Gillooly’s

CoE spokesperson Themba Gadebe confirms that four security guards are currently employed at Gillooly’s Farm and operate day and night on shifts.

The NEWS previously reported that Mississippi Blues, a former restaurant at Gillooly’s Farm has been vandalised due to lack of security and no tenant employed to oversee the premises.

City of Ekurhuleni (CoE) spokesperson Themba Gadebe said they are aware that the premises has been vandalised.

“The matter was reported to Risk Management and Insurance Services Division for claim purposes.

“Insurance assessed the damages on the property on November 19.

“The process of soliciting quotations from service providers has commenced.

“As soon as quotations are received, they will be forwarded to the insurer for further processing,” said Gadebe.

He confirms that four security guards are currently employed at Gillooly’s Farm and operate day and night on shifts.

Ward 20 Clr Jill Humphreys said the security guards were on strike at the time the premises were vandalised.

“The security guards that were on site on November 4 confirmed they were on strike from October 29 to November 4,” said Gadebe.

He said the security guards returned to employment on November 5.

Gadebe confirms there is currently no tenant employed at Gillooly’s Farm.

“Real Estate Department is currently working on a supply chain management process to invite interested investors to lease the property,” said Gadebe.
