Johannesburg East Cluster SAPS makes 192 arrests

The Johannesburg East Cluster police have made almost 200 arrests for various crimes committed.

The Johannesburg East Cluster SAPS made 192 arrests during crime prevention and normal policing operations from November 19 to 25. These ranged from assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm to malicious damage to property. The arrests were recorded as follows:

• 34 suspects arrested for drunken driving.

• 24 suspects arrested for common assault.

• 18 suspects arrested for assault with intent to cause grievously bodily harm.

• 12 suspects arrested for possession of stolen property.

• 12 suspects arrested for theft.

• 10 suspects arrested for malicious damage to property.

• Nine suspects arrested for shoplifting.

• Eight suspects arrested for contravening the Second-Hand Goods Act.

• Seven suspects arrested for reckless and negligent driving.

• Six suspects arrested for possession of a dangerous weapon.

• Six suspects arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm.

• Six suspects arrested for common robbery.

• Five suspects arrested for being illegal immigrants.

• Four suspects arrested for possession of car break-in implements.

• Four suspects arrested for rape.

• Three suspects arrested for assault.

• Three suspects arrested for armed robbery.

• Two suspects arrested for dealing in liquor without a liquor licence.

• Two suspects arrested for carjacking.

• Two suspects arrested house break-in.

• Two suspects arrested for attempted rape.

• Two suspects arrested for intimidation.

• One suspect arrested for committing a sexual offence.

• One suspect arrested for contempt of court.
