“Our main objective was to repeat what we did last year; to raise enough money so that we could make up 100 hampers for underprivileged families.

“We managed to achieve this again this year.

Volunteers from the DFF fund-raiser Rosy Sardinha, Conny Luz and Judy Couto with Jeanette de Freitas.

“The hamper includes a one month’s supply of basic food items for a family of four.

“Thanks to the generosity of many people we have been able to meet this objective,” said De Freitas.

De Freitas said that the monies generated from the auction on the day ensured that there were sufficient funds to finance the hampers.

He said these hampers will also go to poor Portuguese families in Gauteng.
