Vilakazi said they currently have clubs in Pimville, Protea Glen, Soweto, Bertrams and Alexandra.

“Each month, clubs select two Youth of the Month, a junior and teen, who automatically qualify as finalists for the annual Youth of the Year competition at the end of the year.

“Besides having fun through arts and recreational activities, BGCSA members enjoy life skills programmes such as SMART Girls and Passport to Manhood, career preparedness and educational programmes such as Career Launch and Power Hour, as well as Junior Achievement: More Than Money which teaches financial literacy.

“All these activities contribute to the holistic development of a child, and in turn, helps them connect to great futures. #GreatFuturesStartHere,” said Vilakazi.

Tumi Ramasodi, operations manager at the club, said they have been running this premium recognition programme for three years and every year the standard rises higher.

“The day is a testament of all the hard work our staff members have put into grooming the children throughout the year and helping to shape them into future leaders,” said Ramasodi.
