Community delighted by artist’s demonstration

Community members and art lovers enjoyed the artistic talents of Douw van Heerden when he held a demonstration for the Paint and Palette Group.

Moira Simonsen, demonstration coordinator of the group, said there was a 40 per cent increase in people who attended.

The monthly demonstration was held on October 20 at the Edenvale Community Centre.

“Douw kept our audience enthralled for two hours and you could hear a pin drop,” said Moira.

He demonstrated his techniques using large Rosemary brushes, complementary colours and specially prepared mediums.

“He painted a portrait using a model and the resemblance was stunning.”
