R10 000 raised for cancer

The run was one of several charity events hosted by the club throughout the year.

Greenstone Hill Running Club and community members raised R10 000 for Cupcakes 4 Kids with Cancer when it held its second family fun run.

The 2.5km run was held at the Stoneridge Shopping Centre on September 29.

The run was organised by the club and Anthea Koen.

It saw runners of all ages participate and raise funds for non-profit company Cupcakes of Hope.

The day sees community members bake and donate cupcakes which are sold to raise funds for those who have cancer.

The funds help cover medical costs.

Anthea said the event went well and was supported by the community.

Amy Venter of the club said the run was one of several charity events hosted by the club throughout the year.

She said this year the club raised R1 000 more than last year.

Amy Venter of the Greenstone Hill Running Club said over R10 000 was raised by community members and runners for children with cancer.

“We raised R8 360 through the run and through donations from club members we raised an additional R1 640,” said Amy.
