Elderly man dies in Edenvale collision

“The elderly man is believed to have been alone in his car,”

An elderly man was declared dead on the scene of an accident at the intersection of the N12 East Edenvale off ramp.

The man, believed to be in his early 60s, was declared dead by emergency services on October 11.

Ekurhuleni’s Emergency Services Disaster and Emergency Management Services (DEMS) spokesman William Ntladi said the collision involved three vehicles.

Ntladi said the occupants of the other two vehicles were not injured.

“The elderly man is believed to have been alone in his car,” said Ntladi.

“First responders provided pre-hospital treatment and CPR but the deceased responded negatively.”

The deceased’s vehicle at the scene of the accident on October 11.

EMPD, Bedfordview Fire Station’s Rescue Unit and a chaplain responded to the scene.

Ntladi said the chaplain provided support to family members of the deceased who were at the scene.

“EMPD will investigate the accident to determine what caused it,” he said.
