Police officers proudly show their heritage

The theme of the day was The Year of Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela.

Joburg East SAPS Cluster celebrated South African heritage at Marks Park Sports Club.

The Heritage Day celebrations took place on September 28.

Joburg East SAPS Cluster members put their best foot forward for the day.

Mongi Nkomentaba from Jeppe SAPS said officers showcased their rich and diverse culture with food, dance and music.

The theme of the day was The Year of Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela.

“Heritage Day promotes unity and cross-cultural communication and contributes to the quality of life and cultural identity of members.

“Many of us were reminded of our hometowns as we reflected back to our roots,” he said.

Nkomentaba said the Tsonga group from Cleveland SAPS won the prize for the best cultural group.

“It was followed by Hillbrow with the VhaVenda group. Jeppe SAPS won the award for the best cooking group,” he said.
