Three nabbed by Jeppe SAPS for rape of woman

“The men threatened to hurt her if she screamed and they dragged her to a building on Wolhuter Street. They entered one of the rooms where all three raped her."

Jeppe SAPS arrested three suspects for rape on Wolhuter Street in Jeppestown on September 23.

Spokesperson for the station Captain Richard Munyayi said the 23-year-old woman alleged she was standing with her boyfriend at the corner of Main and Kruger streets when three men approached them.

“They told her boyfriend to hand her over to them if he didn’t want to get injured. One of the men who she alleged she knew was carrying a brick and he grabbed her. He took her away and the other two suspects followed them.

“The men threatened to hurt her if she screamed and they dragged her to a building on Wolhuter Street. They entered one of the rooms where all three raped her,” he said.

Munyayi said the suspects then blindfolded her and took her out of the building and put her inside a taxi.

They told her the taxi would take her home.

“She told the taxi driver what had happened and the taxi driver told her he can’t take her home. She then walked to the police station to report the matter and the police immediately took her to the crime scene. Upon arrival, they found all three men sleeping inside the room,” he said.

The three, aged 20, 26 and 35, were arrested and taken to Jeppe SAPS where they were charged with rape and detained.
