Edenvale resident makes Miss Earth SA finals

“The longer you stay in the pageant the bigger impact you will have.”

Edenvale resident and international law student Nicole Kruger was recently selected as a finalist for the Miss Earth SA pageant.

The 23-year-old is one of 14 women who has made it to the finals.

Nicole entered the pageant earlier this year with the hope of making a difference to those in need and to the environment.

“The pageant is a platform which I have been able to use to create awareness about problems facing the community and the environment.”

She said most of the contestants in the pageant are like-minded and want to make a difference.

Nicole entered the pageant online and was contacted by the organisers.

“When I was told I had been selected I was so excited,” said Nicole.

“I felt like it was meant to be.”

Nicole explained as a finalist in the pageant she has been able to help the community for longer.

“The longer you stay in the pageant the bigger impact you will have.”

Projects she has done include a clean-up around First Avenue Bridge, a clean-up in Lenasia and working closely with a glass recycling company.

“My focus has been on how the environment can affect the community,” said Nicole.

To further assist her community, Nicole selected Little Eden Society as her main beneficiary.

Nicole collects e-waste for the society so they can generate income from it.

“My journey with the pageant has been rewarding,” she said.

“It has been an incredible learning experience.”

Nicole said if she wins she will continue to assist the society and environment.

“I have developed a good relationship with Little Eden and hope to do the same with schools in the area.”
