Ia, who grew up on a farm, has always had a passion for creating or learning something new.

While at the University of the Free State, Ia obtained an international diploma in fashion design and worked as a fashion designer for 20 years.

In 2000 her life took a new direction after she attended a few classes which focused on watercolour paintings.

Soon after, Ia discovered how strong the emotional impact of colour was on her style.

Whenever she was confronted by negative emotions Ia would pick up a brush and start painting with loose expressive strokes.

During those emotional times, Ia would speak to herself and explain the use of each colour until she came to terms with her emotions.

Ia has since become a self-taught fine artist who believes colour plays a significant role, symbolically and psychologically.

In order to further improve herself, Ia still attends many workshops hosted by national and international artists.

Her artworks can be found throughout South Africa, Germany, Austria, Tuscany, the UK, Belgium and the USA.

Ia’s demonstration will start at 1.30pm for 2pm.

Entrance will cost R50 for visitors and R20 for members.
