Edenvale SAPS treats senior citizens

He encouraged senior citizens to stand together, inspire change and be role models for the country’s youth.

In the spirit of Mandela Day Edenvale SAPS recently treated the town’s senior citizens to a light lunch and tea.

The lunch was held at the NG-kerk on Eighth Avenue on July 18.

It was organised by Sgt Jacob Mashile, head of Edenvale’s Social Crime Prevention Unit in partnership with De Backery, Edenvale Community Police Forum and the Youth Desk.

Officers and community members served the senior citizens.

Care packages were provided to the senior citizens by Danmar Autobody and DOT Towing and Recovery.

Mashile said the elderly are a wealth of experience and wisdom.

He encouraged senior citizens to stand together, inspire change and be role models for the country’s youth.

In addition to the lunch, the senior citizens were introduced to the ECPF, the Youth Desk and Edenvale SAPS station commander.

Mashile said the day’s events were held to pay tribute to the elderly living in the community and honour the life and legacy of Nelson Mandela.
