“Our July lesson was The Inside Story of a Criminal,” said Steyn.
She said that the lesson outlines a multitude of criminal secret methods and some hard truths about how criminals get away with crime.
She said that it also covers what to do and what not to do in a crime situation.
“I met a group of them in Leeukop Prison striving to turn other inmates out of returning to crime when released. I interviewed one of them when he came out after a 15-year sentence,” said Steyn.
Domestic Watch members told Steyn in an open discussion that they were more afraid of criminals who commit house robberies and human trafficking.
Steyn discussed crime prevention tips and encouraged members of the public to do their part to stop crime, especially by helping SAPS to alleviate crime.
She said she hopes to have employers attend the meetings as members of Domestic Watch, find it difficult to urge their employers to have more security at the workplace.
She said that she has ample information to give to employers to promote a safer working environment and what to do when confronted.
She urged them to have open communication with their employers.
The next Domestic Watch will be on August 20 at the Bedfordview Methodist Church.
