Mandela Day project to improve Edenvale

“We hope that this will be a long-lasting instalment which community members will make use of and care for.”

Edenvale City Improvement District (ECID), in partnership with Mamba and AfriForum, spent their Mandela Day creating a safe Edenvale for pedestrians.

The group upgraded two concrete islands on Van Riebeeck Avenue between Eighth and Hendrik Potgieter streets.

Community member Annie Bell and ECID public relations officer and events co-ordinator Katy Young stand together and show the pebbles which will be included in the upgraded island.

Katy Young, ECID public relations officer and events co-ordinator said the upgraded islands will make the road safer and improves the image of Edenvale.

“We hope that this will be a long-lasting instalment which community members will make use of and care for.”

Ryan Papenfus from Mamba said the security company often works in close partnership with ECID.

Last year the company assisted ECID when it planted flowers along Van Riebeeck Avenue Boulevard.

“A little bit of time and effort can make a big difference,” said Ryan.
