As we commemorate Nelson Mandela Day, learners at Holy Rosary School were asked if we were able to turn back time, what question they would have asked Nelson Mandela if they were given the opportunity and why.

Rixongile Chauke:
“My question would be what gave Nelson Mandela the strength to stand up for what he believed in and how he coped with racism. Racism still exists in South Africa. It would be nice to know how he dealt with it.”
Wendy Sorour:
“I would have asked Nelson Mandela why he decided to stand up for what he believed in. You always hear what Mandela did. It would be interesting to hear the personal side of his decision.”
Federica Giuricich
“My question for Nelson Mandela would have been, after spending so many years in prison what made him decide to continue to help South Africa. After his time in prison, Mandela did not come out an angry person. He still helped SA. Why?”
Reabetswe Marikela:
“I would have asked him how it felt when it was announced that black people were allowed to vote. Mandela was one of the first people to stand up and be heard. He helped achieve something great in SA.”
