Three handguns recovered and two suspects arrested

While the suspects were fleeing, an unmarked EMPD vehicle noticed them driving erratically.

Two suspects have been arrested for the possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition after they followed a woman home and attempted to rob her.

The suspects, aged 32 and 39, were arrested on July 3 in sector one.

Capt Jean Olckers, spokesperson of the Edenvale Police Station, said three handguns and a handheld radio were recovered during the arrest.

Olckers said the suspects were arrested after they gave up on their attempts to rob the woman after her husband activated the alarm.

“They fled the scene in a silver Mercedes-Benz,” said Olckers.

The vehicle which the suspects collided with on July 3. Two suspects were arrested by EMPD officers.

Olckers said the suspects were forced to stop when they collided with another vehicle at the corner of Van Riebeek Avenue and Horwood Street.

The two suspects were arrested by EMPD officers on the scene of the accident while another two fled.

Police are still looking for the other two suspects.
