Update: Edenvale’s Testing Station to be improved

“The redundant items were stored on the Edenvale Testing Station grounds as the grounds were not being utilised.”

The City of Ekurhuleni (CoE) has started to dispose of piles of old infrastructure stored at Edenvale’s Testing Station.

This comes after the NEWS reported on Eastleigh resident Fatima Santo’s concerns about the unsightly piles of old infrastructure at the High Road Station.

Themba Gadebe, the spokesperson of the CoE, said the old infrastructure was stored at the station so that the city’s real estate department could upgrade its storage facility.

“The redundant items were stored there as the grounds were not being utilised,” said Gadebe.

“The piles have grown because the infrastructure has increased over time.”

Gadebe said the piles will be disposed of and once the city has completed the process it hopes to revive the station.

“The city plans to build a drive-thru facility on the premise to enhance the renewal of vehicle licences.”
