This follows an independent electoral process conducted by the Independent Electoral Commission of the new Student Council at Konka Camp in Magaliesburg.

The student council is geared at creating a platform for Grade 10 and Grade 11 learners to work as a team throughout their two-year term to contribute to society.

“This platform is a replica of a normal council without the party politics and equips learners with various skills enabling them to debate and to be considerate and responsible citizens,” he said.

Da Gama urged student councillors to fight the injustices of the world by being the change they want to see.

“The life lessons you will learn on this journey are precious and will stay with you for the rest of your life. The City aims to equip you with skills such as teamwork, emotional intelligence, negotiation skills, project management and public debate. These are skills that you will need throughout your lives,” he said.
