#Power_Alert: City Power implements load rotation – AGAIN

This follows the utility's implementation of load rotation last night when the Observatory and Bellevue substation were switched off from 4pm.

UPDATE: Friday afternoon City Power stated that it was aiming to restore power by Saturday morning.

 

City Power has confirmed that it started load rotation this morning at 9am.

According to City Power’s Twitter timeline, the Sebenza substation was switched off this morning.

This follows the utility’s implementation of load rotation last night when the Observatory and Bellevue substation were switched off from 4pm.

Currently, City Power is experiencing high demand for electricity thereby necessitating implementation of load rotation. The following areas are affected last night:

  • Observatory North
  • Cyrildene Central and South
  • Kensington Ext 5
  • Bez Valley East
  • Bruma
  • Dewetshof
  • Langerman Drive
  • Bez Valley North and South
  • Kensington Clinic
  • Kitchener Avenue
  • Roberts Avenue East and West
  • Yeoville East
  • Bellevue East and West
  • Houghton West
  • Judith and Gerald
  • Natal Street
  • Grafton Street – North and South
  • Pope Street

City power has urged all customers to use electricity sparingly and switch off geysers and other appliances.
