Local club launches art competition

Community members of all ages are invited to take part in the Paint & Palette Group’s upcoming art competition.

The competition will showcase artworks created by community members and will replace the annual June demonstration.

It will be held at the Edenvale Community Centre on June 23.

Entrance is free and community members are welcome to take part in the competition.

Requirements for the competition are as follows:

• Artworks need to be originals produced from the artist’s own reference material.

• The artworks must have been completed in 2018 and not been formally exhibited previously.

• Artworks may not exceed one metre.

Artists may enter as many works as they wish.

Moira Simonsen, the demonstration co-ordinator of the group, said the artwork will be critiqued by two well known professional artists.

Three winners will be chosen by members of the Paint & Palette Group at the event.

Each winner will receive a prize and a certificate.

The competition will start at 2pm and end at 4.30pm.
