Road closures for rugby test match

Tickets will be scanned on the day of the event and we are sending a warning to those who sell fake tickets at the stadium that they will be arrested.

A number of streets will be closed around Ellis Park Stadium in Doornfontein for the rugby test match between Springboks and England on June 9.

Spokesperson for Jeppe SAPS Captain Richard Munyayi said Beit, Sivewright, Railway, Park and Miller, Saratoga, Sivewright and Upper Ross, Erin and Van Beeck, Charlton, Terrence, Erin and Bertrams, Bezuidenhout and Park Lane, Curry, Staib and Gous streets will be closed.

“Jeppe SAPS, JMPD and private security companies will be working on providing security and controlling traffic. There will be park and ride where buses and Uber taxis will be dropping off spectators.

“Tickets will be scanned on the day of the event and we are sending a warning to those who sell fake tickets at the stadium that they will be arrested. Alcohol and weapons will not be allowed in and around the stadium. People who work and stay around the stadium will be issued with special permit to enter the surroundings,” said Munyayi.
