Woman arrested by Edenvale SAPS after opening false case

“After further investigation it was found that the woman was not honest about the incident.”

A 24-year-old woman has been arrested for perjury after she lied about a residential robbery.

On May 17 the women reported that she was robbed in her home.

Captain Jean Olckers, the spokesperson of the Edenvale SAPS, said when officers heard the woman’s story they found it very suspicious.

“After further investigation, it was found that the woman was not honest about the incident,” said Olckers.

The woman was arrested the same day she reported her case to the police.

“Edenvale SAPS takes fighting crime seriously and does not tolerate false cases.”

Olckers said the woman is expected to face charges of perjury in court soon.
