UPDATE: Arrests after Boksburg CIT yesterday now totals 7

The first in the series of arrests took place yesterday at the George Goch Hostels.

Seven suspects have been arrested in connection with a brazen cash-in-transit heist yesterday in Boksburg.

The first in the series of arrests took place yesterday at the George Goch Hostels.

Further arrests were made in Johannesburg’s northern suburbs later the same day. Police officers also confirmed that vehicles an firearms were seized during the arrests.

Unconfirmed reports this morning suggest that one of the suspects may have been a police officer.

Jeppe SAPS on scene of CIT arrests at George Goch Hostel

Jeppe SAPS officers are on the scene of arrests made at George Goch Hostel following a cash-in-transit heist in Boksburg earlier this morning.

Armed robbers blew up two cash-in-transit vehicles at the intersection of Northrand and Atlas roads in Boksburg shortly before 10am this morning.

Eight people were injured in the process, two of which are believed to have been bystanders.

According to information received a section of the M2 is closed as police continue to search for suspects.

Heavy delays are being experienced between the Benrose and Denver off-ramps.

Officers have arrested three suspects and recovered three vehicles believed to have been used in the robbery. Firearms and cash were also seized.
