The Woodpecker Bowling Club in Bez Valley donated R1 550 to the Bedfordview and Germiston SPCA.
“The SPCA relies solely on sponsors and receives no support from the government. The animal sanctuary needs all the support it can get because the staff need to keep the place running.
“We saw a need to donate to them for the great work they do,” said Eleni Paparas.
She said the club is planning another fund-raising event to raise more money for the animal sanctuary by hosting a potjie competition on June 16.
“We would like to invite the community to come and join us for a day of fun.
“If you are interested in being part of the competition, you can come to the club and register. There will be prizes to give away,” said Paparas.
The club is situated in Bez Valley on 2nd Avenue.
“We would also like to invite the community to come to the club.
“There are braai and picnic facilities and other fun activities like pool and dominoes,” said Paparas.
