Sebenza SAPS is on the hunt for a kingpin after three persons were arrested in connection with vehicles that were bought fraudulently at a dealership in Hatfield.

Sebenza SAPS spokesperson Sergeant Sharon Tsotsotso said the SAPS received information about Volkswagen Amarok vehicles that looked suspicious as they looked the same and two had the same registration number.
“The information we received was that the vehicles were at a complex in the area.
“The crime prevention team went to the complex where two suspects were arrested. Another two managed to flee.”
Seven Amarok vehicles were also recovered.
“During further investigations, officers discovered that the vehicles were bought fraudulently using an account belonging to the Department of Water and Sanitation.
“Investigations also revealed that a total of 14 vehicles, including trucks, were bought fraudulently and nine of those trucks were recovered in Venda and a suspect was arrested there.
“Two trucks were recovered in Boksburg. We hope our investigations will lead to more arrests and recover the remaining vehicles, as well as the arrest of the kingpin behind this crime,” she said.
