Resolved: Taxi Forum resolves route issues between taxi associations

Sebenza SAPS recently held a meeting with two taxi associations to resolve a quarrel that had potential to lead to taxi violence.

Sebenza SAPS recently held a meeting with two taxi associations to resolve a quarrel that had the potential to lead to taxi violence.

Sebenza SAPS spokesperson, Sergeant Sharon Tsotsotso said the associations were having issues because of routes in the Croydon area.

“We received complaints from the taxi associations but no cases were opened as we managed to resolve the issues by talking to them.

“The issue was that the other taxi association’s route end at Croydon, but some taxi drivers would jump to the Sebenza area and that caused some tensions between the associations,” said Tsotsotso.

“Because of the Sebenza SAPS Taxi Forum, we managed to reach an amicable solution.

“The taxi forum was established to resolve issues such as this one. We managed to sit down and talk with both associations and we reached an agreement – something that would have been difficult if we did not have such a platform. “Through the forum, we are able to resolve matters quickly before they escalate further,” said Tsotsotso.
