Sebenza SAPS, Johannesburg Metro Police (JMPD) and the Ekurhuleni Metro Police (EMPD) conducted a crime prevention operation during the Easter weekend.

Sebenza SAPS spokesperson Sergeant Sharon Tsotsotso said the aim of the operation was to ensure safety on the roads during the busy Easter holidays.

“The operation was a joint effort between SAPS and metro police. Working together was a success because the manpower allowed us to do more and prevent crime in the area,” said Tsotsotso.

She said 22 suspects were arrested during the operation. Charges ranged from driving under the influence, reckless and negligent driving, possession of dagga and possession of drugs.

“We thank the community for working with us and for being cooperative because the operation would not have been a success without them,” said Tsotsotso.
