Sisonke aims to create a platform to promote talent

MALVERN - Creating platforms to expose talent.

Martin Mogano and Thato Monareng are creating opportunities for young, upcoming artists to showcase their talent in Malvern.

Martin said Sisonke Entertainment was established after identifying the talent Malvern had and having no platforms to showcase it.

“We want to offer an opportunity to young, local, up and coming house DJs, hip-hop DJs, hip-hop and RnB artists to showcase their skills.

“There are so many talented artists but we focus only on the ones who are famous and forget to support those who are in our very own backyard,” said Martin.

Sisonke aims to promote talent by hosting events in Malvern that will offer opportunities for the artist in the area to perform.

“We were inspired by the love of good music and we realised there is a lot of talented individuals in the community who don’t have the opportunity to showcase their skills,” said Martin.

“We want to see these young artists achieve their goals of becoming successful musicians.”

He said if there is no platform to perform, artists don’t get exposure.

“It is difficult to break into big concert performances. We want to be that connection to the main platforms.”

He said as an organisation they want to create a relationship with record labels and relevant organisations that will be willing to support the cause of the arts.

“The more events we host in Malvern the more we can help upcoming artists reach their dreams,” said Martin.

He said there are some challenges because hosting an event need logistics and they don’t have all that they need.

“We struggle with equipment and venues for the events. As a new organisation we don’t have many resources and we hope in future we can be fully equipped. Currently, we need support from the community and companies in the area. If you can offer us a venue, fund or donate equipment we will appreciate it,” added Martin.

He said they hope that Sisonke will make a difference in the artists’ life and bring hope.
