ALERT: Heavy rains could continue until tomorrow

The South African Weather Service has warned residents to be on high alert as severe thunderstorms and heavy rain are predicted for the remainder of the day, leading into tomorrow.

  • Severe Thunderstorms:
Severe thunderstorms with the possibility of large hail and damaging winds and reduced visibility expected in some areas of Gauteng, with special focus on the eastern and northern parts of Tshwane.
  •  Heavy Rain:
Heavy rain is expected in parts of Gauteng today, which could lead to localised flooding in some areas.
Motorists are reminded to take the necessary precautions when travelling.

They are encouraged to reduce speed and increase their following distance and headlights should be kept on at all times to increase visibility.

Residents should also ensure that they shelter their pets.
