In celebration of the all-new Jaguar E-Pace, Jaguar-Land Rover (JLR) Bedfordview decided to take a step away from the norm by contacting not only Autodealer, but also legendary petrolhead and radio DJ, Sasha Martinengo, from Hot 91.9 to unveil is newest creation.

The fact that the E-Pace was still covered in camouflage didn’t matter much to the man more commonly known as South Africa’s Mr Formula 1, who was adamant to find out more about the new model before the nation’s media got their hands on it. He then hit the highways and by-ways of Johannesburg from the Hot 91.9 studios to the JLR Bedfordview dealership.

Unbeknown to Sasha though, we managed to get a sneak preview of the E-Pace before he did, and noticed a few interesting features. For starters, it looks sports car-like with its muscular proportions, powerful haunches, optional 21-inch alloy wheels and Matrix LED headlamps.

Tasked with expanding Jaguar’s customer base, the E-Pace also rates as the most connected
model in its range today, with notable items such as the Touch Pro 10-inch infotainment system, up to five USB ports, 4G Wi-Fi, a 12.3-inch TFT instrument cluster and the (optional) waterproof Activity Key as well as Jaguar Remote Premium which allows for the E-Pace to be remotely started.

Something which Sasha got to experience though was the drive. He told us that the car now features lightweight suspension architecture with all-wheel drive capability.

The advantages of this include enhanced dynamics and traction. The E-Pace also has Configurable Dynamic technology which allows drivers to personalise the throttle, steering and transmission settings.

It might only measure just under 4.4-meters, but don’t be fooled by the E-Pace’s compact dimensions. It offers exceptional room, practicality and as Sasha pointed out, the centre cubby can be configured in four different ways, while boot space is rated at 577-litres or up to 1 234-litres with the rear seats folded flat.
