The 1st Bedfordview Scout Troop recently took advantage of the warm weather to enjoy a camp on the banks of the Maretlwane River in the Magaliesberg.

The camp was run by Scout Michael Omand as part of his Springbok Scout Award and saw the Scouts tracking giraffe, wildebeest and other wildlife, kloofing in Castle and Tonqwane Gorges, building towers and hiking while enjoying the spectacular scenery.

Jason Bailie leads a patrol of scouts in building a tower.

The Scouts also received training in first aid, cooking, camping, pioneering, veldcraft, mapping, navigation and observation.
