School hosts fund-raising day for SPCA

“We teach our learners from a young age to help others and be the difference.”

Over the Moon Child Care Centre recently held its Edenvale SPCA cupcake fund-raiser day.

The annual fund-raiser was held on March 9 at the centre.

Wanda Groenewald, manager of the centre, said the fund-raiser began in 2015 and has been going ever since.

Udo Sachow, kennel manager of the Edenvale SPCA, speaks to the learners at Over the Moon Child Care Centre about basic pet care.

“We ask parents and the community for donations of animal food for the Edenvale SPCA,” said Wanda.

“On the day of the handover, we bake and decorate cupcakes as a reward for the learners.”

She said by hosting the event learners are taught basic pet care and responsibility.

“The SPCA relies on assistance from the public to look after animals. This is our way of assisting them,” said Wanda.

“Since the start of the year, the centre has been on a serious mission to help those in need.”

Earlier this year the centre collected bottles of water for Cape Town residents.

The centre collected 1 705 litres of water.
