Jeppe High School for Girls celebrated its 90th annual flower show from February 23 to 24.
The flower show is held each year towards the end of February and attracts many visitors.
There was a feast of floral arrangements on display from current learners and alumnae.
“Each girl in the school took part in the flower show and was encouraged to unleash her creative and imaginative skills,” said the school’s headmistress, Dina Gonçalves.
Gonçalves said the girls are not given any formal instruction in the art of flower arranging, but many find they have a natural talent and enjoy expressing themselves through this creative medium.

“This is the most exciting event of the year,” she said. “It is filled with creativity and imagination. The fragrance of the flowers lingers for generations.”
Gonçalves thanked the families and the community for their support.
“It is always wonderful to welcome the girls’ families and the community. Some of the arrangements will be donated to old age homes and hospitals,” she added.
