Harambee gives youth hope

MALVERN – I don’t have enough money to spend at the internet café browsing through the websites.

Harambee officials had a community information stall in Malvern recently.

Junior community liaison officer of Harambee, Amos Molope said the aim of the day was to assist the unemployed youth of Malvern and surrounding areas to find jobs.

“We registered the CV’s of a number of candidates on the database for job opportunities,” he said.

Molope said youth are often excluded from employment opportunities.

“Not because they lack talent or potential but because they have no market access and work experience. Harambee is there to create the network between the employers and the young people. We visit Malvern once a month and we also go to other areas to give the youth an opportunity to register with us,” he said.

Malvern resident Julia Ndlovu registered her CV with Harambee.

She told the EXPRESS that it is very difficult to find a job, especially as she does not have the resources to do so.

“I don’t have the money to spend at internet cafés browsing through websites. I am registering with Harambee and I hope to find a job soon,” she said.

Ndlovu said she wishes Harambee could have their stall in Malvern more often so that it can help the youth in the community.
