Correction: Grey Bedfordview mansion not linked to Gupta family

The home was not raided by the Hawks as was previously reported.

On February 21, 2018, Bedfordview and Edenvale News published a print report titled “Gupta-linked mansion always guarded” on page 3 of the newspaper.

An online version of the report titled “#Gupta-linked mansion ‘lights up like a Christmas tree at night’” was published on the publication’s online platform on the same day.

“Images of two properties were published along with resident’s comments about the occupants of the grey house after people on the scene alleged that both properties had been raided by the Hawks on Valentine’s Day.”

It was reported that both properties were thought to be owned by Ashok Narayan, the former MD of Sahara Systems, a subsidiary of Gupta-owned Oakbay Investments. It was also reported that the operation pertained to the Vrede Farm investigations.

One of the properties was surrounded by a peach wall.

The other was grey.

Bedfordview and Edenvale News has since learnt that the grey house does not belong to Narayan or any person linked to the Guptas in any way, nor was the property raided by the Hawks on Valentine’s Day.

The abovementioned reports are herewith retracted in as far as the grey house is concerned.

The Bedfordview and Edenvale News apologises for any inconvenience caused.
