The 19-year-old began her journey with the national beauty pageant last year and is looking for ways to help the community.

“Miss Eagle is a pageant which empowers women,” said Jessica.

“It encourages them to get involved in their community and help those in need.”

Jessica’s decision to be involved in the pageant stemmed from her love for animals.

As an animal lover, she wanted to be a voice for animals in need.

Since then she has realised the need to speak up for anyone who cannot help themselves.

“I want to help where I can and do my part for my community,” said Jessica.

Mesa is Jessica’s first pageant.

Her mom, Dawn Inward, had always been cautious about Jessica entering a pageant.

“I know children who had entered pageants but I did not want to put my child through that,” said Dawn.

Once Jessica explained to her mom what Mesa was she was more open to the idea of her entering.

When Jessica is not working towards her Mesa dream she enjoys expressing herself creatively.

As a freelance artist, she enjoys painting, her favourite subjects to paint are animals.

Looking to the future Jessica said winning the Mesa title would be a “great achievement”.

Brand ambassador for the Miss Eagle South Africa (Mesa) Pageant, Jessica Inward, met with the NEWS to discuss her journey with this pageant.

“If I were to win it would add more credibility to my voice when I talk about helping those in need.”

However, even if Jessica does not win the title she will continue to speak up for those who need help.

“Even if I can only get a few people to listen to me I will have shared my message,” said Jessica.

“In my opinion that’s already winning.”
