JUST IN: Edenvale man (30) gunned down

A 70-year-old woman who was also on the property was shot in the leg.

UPDATE: Edenvale SAPS confirmed the incident took place on Fifth Avenue in Edenvale.

At 8pm last night a man (30) was murdered at an Avenue’s residential property. Captain Jean Olckers, spokesperson for the Edenvale SAPS, said the man was shot while struggling with robbers.

“Three suspects entered the property. A woman in the garden screamed, and that is when the victim intervened,” said Olckers. “The suspects, armed with handguns, fired multiple shots.”

The man was shot in the abdomen and died on the scene. A 70-year-old woman who was also on the property was shot in the leg.

Olckers said the elderly woman was taken to hospital and is in a stable condition. Small items were taken from the home.
