Community and JMPD partnership sees three bogus cops behind bars

The suspects are currently being held at the Mondeor Police Station to face criminal charges of armed robbery and impersonating police officers.

On Friday, January 18, three men dressed in police uniform driving vehicles equipped with blue lights, set up a road block on the N12 motorway near the Comaro off-ramp.

The trio used their “road block” to target unsuspecting motorists, who were robbed of their money and cell phones when they were stopped.

The Mondeor Sector One Community Police Form (CPF) Patrol Unit witnessed the incident and alerted the Joburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) and other law enforcement agencies, who intercepted and arrested the suspects.

Public Safety MMC Michael Sun said “We are seeing an increase in joint efforts by the community and law enforcement officials to fight crime. It is encouraging to see the positive outcomes of these collaborations. We commend all those involved in putting three bogus cops behind bars.”
