Much-loved teacher dies

The Saheti family was shocked by the death of long-standing, much-loved staff member Elli Lambropoulos, who died on November 29.

Originally from Kimberley, Elli joined Saheti in 1981 as a teacher in the nursery school and quickly endeared herself to learners, parents and colleagues alike through her passion, dedication and energy for teaching.

Anna Botha, head of marketing for Saheti, said during her 36-year career at the school, Elli taught hundreds of pre-schoolers, many of whom later returned as alumni parents and enjoyed the privilege of watching their own children’s early foundations being shaped by Elli.

In 2009, Elli was promoted to vice-principal of Saheti Playschool and Pre-Primary School, a position she held until her death.

“Reading was one of her great loves, and her extensive general knowledge in education trends and beyond was much respected,” Botha said. “She was also an avid traveller and loved exploring the sights, history and culture of countries across the world together with her beloved partner Mitch Pascoa.”

Elli died unexpectedly at the age of 58 and is survived by Mr Pascoa, her family and friends.

“Her legacy will live on at Saheti,” said Botha.
