SA Irish Regiment honours the fallen
The regiment was awarded battle honour Sidi Rezegh for its involvement in the Libyan battle.
The South African Irish Regiment commemorated the Battle of Sidi Rezegh and its fallen members.
The Kensington-based reserve force held a drumhead service of remembrance and dedication at Elandspark School on November 26.
2017 marked the 76th anniversary of the battle.
At the event the SA Irish Pipe and Drums performed, a roll of honour was called and wreaths were lain.
The regiment was awarded battle honour Sidi Rezegh for its involvement in the Libyan battle.
A total of 3 394 SA soldiers died during the battle in 1941 during World War II.
Earlier this year the Dickie Fritz Shellhole commemorated the battle.
