The SAPS has warned members of the community and motorists to avoid the area surrounding Van Riebeeck Avenue and Ninth Street.
Details of exactly what transpired in the area are still sketchy but it is believed that a robbery occurred.
Edenvale journalist, Stephan Lehman who is on the scene has received reports that an unknown number of suspects fled the area armed with rifles.
