Jeppe SAPS host successful imbizo

The event was attended by the residents and community indunas from Jeppe, George Goch, Kwa Mai-Mai and Denver hostels.

Jeppe SAPS held a successful imbizo at Kwa Mai-Mai hostel in Jeppe on November 18.

The purpose of the imbizo was to:

• Encourage the community to work with the police.

• Introduce new police officers.

• Encourage the youth to join Youth Desk.

• Recruit people to become police reservists and street patrollers.

The community was given a platform to discuss issues affecting them regarding crime.

Residents discussed crime in their area and how the they can work together with police to curb it.

The event was attended by the residents and community indunas from Jeppe, George Goch, Kwa Mai-Mai and Denver hostels.

City councillors, Jeppe SAPS management, Jeppe Community Policing Forum, Youth Crime Prevention Desk members and street patrollers were also present.

“There will be follow-up imbizos in the near future so that we can continue working together to make the Jeppe policing precinct a safer place for everyone who lives or works here,” said Jeppe SAPS spokesperson Capt Richard Munyai.

Imbongi Yothukela entertained people on the stage.
Residents had the opportunity to raise their concerns regarding crime.
Residents came out in their numbers to support the imbizo.
MC of the day was Jeppe SAPS patroller co-ordinator Vusi Nkosi.
