Joburg SAPS East cluster nabs 114 suspects

JEPPE – Most of the suspects have already appeared in different courts while others are yet to appear.

The Johannesburg SAPS East Cluster arrested 114 suspects from November 13 to 19.

The cluster is made up of seven police stations, Cleveland, Jeppe, Hillbrow, Rosebank, Parkview, Norwood and Yeoville.

The arrests included:

• Ten for common assault.

• Nine for assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

• Two for malicious damage to property.

• Five for possession of stolen property.

• Six for shoplifting.

• Ten for theft.

• Four for common robbery.

• One for house burglary and theft.

• Twelve for drinking and driving.

• Two for theft of copper cables.

• Two for armed robbery.

• Four for fraud.

• One for intimidation.

• Two for possession of a stolen motor vehicle.

• One for attempted robbery.

• One for attempted business burglary.

• One for car hijacking.

• One for theft out of a motor vehicle.

• One for rape.

“Most of the suspects have already appeared in different courts while others are yet to appear.

“Some of them paid fines and bail while others remain in police custody for further investigation,” said Jeppe SAPS spokesperson Capt Richard Munyai.
